The Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program (COLAP) is NOT just for lawyers! We are also the Judicial Assistance Program. COLAP’s overall mission is to promote well-being, resiliency and competency by assisting our Colorado legal community with personal and professional issues that can compromise both practice of law and quality of life. Judges and magistrates call COLAP for a wide range of issues, including stress management, general well-being, staff issues, concern for family members, referrals to counseling, and a wide range of mental health and substance use issues. As judges are often in the best position to recognize problematic behavior, suffering, or impairment in others, judges also call confidentially out of concern for lawyers practicing in their courtroom or in colleagues on the bench. Whether it’s for yourself or someone you are concerned about, or you would like us to give a free ethics CLE presentation on a well-being topic in your court, district, or local bar, let us help you find a solution. COLAP is free and independent, with all communications confidential and privileged.
COLAP’s services include but are not limited to:
- Consultations for any personal or professional issue

- Workplace consultations: support for leadership to create a culture of well-being and/or address systemic issues to improve wellness, staff engagement and job satisfaction

- Literature, articles, and tips specifically for legal professionals
- Critical incident/traumatic event support & processing
- Judicial Roundtables: debriefing & well-being support with colleagues at Annual Judicial Conferences (can be tailored for your district)
